Issues: Green Lantern Corps #29-32 (2008-2009)
Love is in the air!
It will be Valentine's Day in just a few days, so you are probably in the mood for some romantic and love-filled stories. Luckily, I know of some Green Lantern stories that just might fulfill your Valentine's Day needs.
"Sins of the Star Sapphire" shows how Green Lanterns, officers who are known for their ability to overcome fear, have difficulty overcoming their feelings of passion and love.
On the planet of Zamoran, the stones that were once used to transform women into the infamous Star Sapphire, are being formed into power rings to arm an army of Star Sapphires. While the Green Lantern Corps wields the power of willpower, the Star Sapphires will wield the power of love.
The Guardians of the Universe, the leaders of the Green Lantern Corps, travel to Zamora to investigate with the Zamoran Queen's intentions of her Star Sapphires. The Guardians also must determine if love is a threat to the abilities of their Green Lantern Corps.
Meanwhile, Green Lanterns Kyle Rayner and Soranik Natu, who are also a romantic couple, must hunt for the child-stealing member of the Sinestro Corps, Kryb. They are joined by the married Green Lanterns Amnee and Matoo Pree.
And just to add another layer to this story, Miri Riam is about to go on her honeymoon with her new husband until the villainous Mongul kills her husband. Miri's tragedy and undying love for her husband makes her a prime candidate as a new Star Sapphire.
This story shows how emotions, like love, impact the duties of Green Lanterns while also showing the corruption among the Guardians of the Universe. This is a story for fans who have gotten familiar with characters like Kyle Rayner and the original Star Sapphire or for those who are planning on reading "Blackest Night".
